EA0001 - Northern Lights above Dundee City in Scotland (2016)
March 2016 - I had always wanted to see the Northern Lights and when they announced that on the 8th, they were to be spectacular, I had to take my camera and go. I had planned this view and I parked in the parking area at the end of the bridge. I set my camera up on a tripod and took some test shots to evaluate the best exposure and be ready for the display and I waited.
After a while, frozen to death I decided to go on the top of a hill on the way back home. It has an excellent viewpoint over the valley but I knew a lot would be black, so not interesting.
There, I met Karen who was also hunting for the Northern Lights. I am glad I had such lovely company because, truth be told, we never saw the Northern Lights.
A couple of weeks later, I saw someone's post on Facebook, with a photograph of the Northern Lights over the city and it got me thinking. Well, they were very faint on my photographs and I certainly do not remember seeing them at all, but with a few tweeks in exposure and settings, I found them. I still have to see them for real though!
